After my recent post on how to grow your hair longer (if you wish to read it click here) i had a lot of people interested in the Lee Stafford treatment (including my best friend who i know reads this blog). Never one to argue with the requests of a best friend (haha), i have decided to do a more in-depth review on this little pink tub of vitamin-y, hair-growthy goodness.
What Lee Stafford Says:
"Protein based complex to fertilize your follicles, creating a healthy environment on the scalp to help hair grow and reach it's maximum potential length"
- 'Vital hair and scalp complex helps reduce hair loss'
- 'Improves follicle health which in turn increases the ability of hair to anchor to the scalp'
- Soothing formulation reduces irritation and moisturises the scalp
- Addresses hair and scalp ageing
- Improves volume and feel of the hair
What I Say:
I'm on my second tub of this now and i have honestly seen an improvement in the condition of my hair. I tend to use this treatment when i've overdone it with the heat appliances and my ends look a bit worse for wear. I always know when i've used it - my hair looks full of body without being weighed down, and it always feels soft and velvety to the touch. My roots seem to appear brighter too and my hair just feels altogether more healthy.
But the fact that this tub is advertised as a way to magically grow your hair annoys me slightly - it isn't going to make your hair grow. It's not the miracle product that people often mistake it for and it isn't going to give you Rapunzel-esque locks overnight. What it will do is give your hair the nutrients it needs in order to grow healthily (it apparently contains 'Pro-Growth complex for strength'), and it will improve the condition of your hair. It's basically giving you the essentials for the best potential hair growth.
In the words of Lee Stafford, 'If the Earth isn't nourished you will never grow beautiful flowers'.
There.
How's that for some metaphorical madness? :)
How to use the product.
This product is meant to be used inbetween your shampoo and conditioner, and left on the hair for 5 minutes (best used in the bath so you can relax with a magazine or a book to pass the time - 5 minutes goes extremely slowly when you're stood looking blankly at a shower door..). It suggests to use an 'egg sized amount' and to massage it in from the scalp/roots right to the tips.
Have i noticed any hair growth?
Yes but it's impossible to say that it's down to this product alone. I've been struggling to get it to grow past 'booby length' and it certainly has succeeded with helping me reach this goal in life. If you don't use it properly, it isn't going to do a great deal, but the first 3 months i used this religiously and i noticed about 1 and a half inches of hair growth (doesn't sound a lot but once it gets to that 'awkward lenth' then 1 and a half inches of growth is absoloutely flipping brilliant). It also seems to limit those pesky split ends...
What niggles me about this product?
It suggests to use this everytime you wash your hair until you notice an improvement, and then to continue using once a week to maintain it. This is easier said than done but i do often use it a few times a week and it definately improves the condition of my hair. HOWEVER, using an egg sized amount every time you wash your hair means that if you have long or thick hair like myself, you may need to use an extra 'half an egg or so', therefore meaning you get through the tub extremely easily - and at £8 a pop it isn't cheap if you're making this part of your regular hair routine.Overall:
I'd really recommend this if you're looking for a cheap-ish hair growth/conditon fix! I've purchased my second tub and im already half way through it and i have no doubt i'll buy another after this (if i don't like a product or don't believe it works i'd never re-purchase). If you're impatient and a little bit scatty with your hair routine then maybe this isn't for you but there are other things you can do alongside this to encourage hair growth.
Hair Vitamins
I must admit i'm not a big fan of taking tablets i don't need to take. However, there are tablets you can purchase from Boots and health stores such as Holland & Barrett to encourage hair growth from the inside. I've never taken them long enough to provide you with a decent review but i know a lot of people swear by these vitamin tablets (my mother recommended them to me).
Have any of you tried the hair supplement tablets?
Any other hair growth products you can recommend me?
:)
Lots of love
